The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) through Negosyo Center (NC) Calauag in cooperation with local government unit (LGU) Calauag and in partnership with the Barangay Local Government Unit headed by Punong Barangay Leonisa L. Layosa launched the Livelihood Seeding Program – Negosyo Serbisyo sa Barangay (LSP-NSB) last 21 April 2022 in Brgy. Viñas, Calauag,Quezon.

As one of the flagship programs of DTI, the LSP-NSB aims to provide more comprehensive business development assistance by bringing government services closer to the people through partnerships with the relevant local government units and will help capacitate barangay personnel to provide essential business advisory or information dissemination services to micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in the locality.

During the program, the DTI NC Calauag Business Counselor (BC) Ma. Isabel C. Hirang, deliberated about the objectives of the LSP-NSB program, DTI and NC Programs, and Services, the 7Ms of Marketing, and How to Start and Choose a Business. NC-BC Hirang also discussed in a nutshell consumer rights and responsibilities to educate and empower the participants. Afterward, NC BC Hirang explained the Bayanihan CARES of Small Business Corporation, a loan program for MSMEs, cooperatives, hospitals, tourism, and OFWs affected by the COVID-19 pandemic and other socio-economic reversals. She also asked some of the participants to share how their businesses thrived and adapted during the pandemic. The LSP-NSB in Brgy. Viñas was attended by 110 participants, composed of 5 registered MSMEs and 105 potential MSMEs. Those participants that weren’t physically present during the event were reached through information dissemination where they also received info materials about DTI programs and services and hygiene kits inclusive of alcohol and facemask.

Hon. Layosa graced the event and gave her most profound appreciation to DTI and NC for reaching out to their barangay. She also thanked the DTI for its commitment to supporting MSMEs. Mandatory health protocols were observed during the program. Through the kindness of the DTI Quezon Provincial Office, each of the participants received advocacy materials, snacks, and individual hygiene kits, inclusive of alcohol and a facemask to help combat the spread of the COVID-19 virus. ♦
