LOS BAÑOS, LAGUNA — The Department of Trade and Industry Quezon, through its Negosyo Center Lopez, with the Office of the Municipal Agriculturist, headed by Rebecca P. Tiama, the Institute of Crop Science, University of the Philippines Los Bańos, Keystone Technical Institute of Lopez Quezon, Inc., and the Lopez Federation of Rural Improvement Club (LFRIC) conducted a seminar on Packaging and labeling on March 17, 2023, at the Municipal Function Hall of Lopez Quezon.
Present during the said activity were: The Local Government Unit of Lopez headed by Mayor Rachel A. Ubana, represented by Municipal Agriculturist Rebecca P. Tiama and his staff, School Administrator Maam Rhodora A. Ulan of Keystone Technical Institute of Lopez Quezon, Inc., the Lopez Federation of Rural Improvement Club headed by Chairperson Minerva B. Segui, and other MSMEs consisting of 26 female and 4 male participants.
The learning objectives of the seminar are to understand the reasons why the use of food packaging has increased and the functions of food packaging in food products, They also identify the packaging classification, common examples of food packaging, and types of materials used in food packaging.
The support of DTI Quezon, led by Provincial Director Julieta L. Tadiosa, CESO V, and the Local Government Unit of Lopez, was vital to the success of the seminar, which initially aimed to facilitate the packaging and labeling of processed foods by LFRIC and MSMEs. ♦
