PAKIL, LAGUNA — With its aim to have a wider reach of business development assistance by bringing programs, activities, and services closer to the countryside, the Department of Trade and Industry – Laguna Provincial Office (DTI – Laguna) conducted a Capability Building Seminar for Barangay Officials and Barangay Development Council (BDC) Personnel for the two identified barangays such as Tavera and Gonzales at Turumba Spring Resort, Brgy. Baño, Pakil, Laguna, on September 10, 2020.
This activity is under the Negosyo Serbisyo sa Barangay (NSB) – Livelihood Seeding Program, which is part of the Republic Act Number 11469 also known as the Bayanihan Heal as One Act. This program aims to provide package of livelihood kits and business advisory assistance and services to the micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) affected by natural and human-induced calamities including health disasters like the corona virus disease.
A total of twenty-four (24) barangay officials, BDC members and Local Government Unit (LGU) personnel attended the program. Furthermore, NSB Desk signages and one hundred seventy-six (176) NSB information kits (information materials and brochures on MSME Development and Consumer Protection) were issued to the said barangays so as to start the operation of the NSB Desk in their respective barangays.
Topics discussed were on the DTI Programs and Services, How to Setup Negosyo Serbisyo sa Barangay Desk, and How to Start a Business. Coincided with this NSB – LSP, a Consumer Education and Advocacy Initiative was also conducted where DTI – Laguna discussed the Basic Consumer Rights and Responsibilities and the Salient Features of the Consumer Act of the Philippines. ♦
