The Department of Trade and Industry Rizal Provincial Office (DTI-Rizal) conducted a webinar on visual merchandising last 18 May 2021 via Zoom. This activity is part of the intervention for micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) under the One Town One Product Next Generation (OTOP Next Gen) Program. On behalf of DTI-Rizal Provincial Director Desiderio G. Jurado III, Division Chief Sharon Fojas-Dioco thanked the MSMEs who actively participated in the webinar.

Senior Trade and Industry Specialist (STIDS) Jason San Juan explained that the activity aimed to provide MSMEs new concepts and techniques in physical and virtual visual merchandising.  This webinar intended to assist entrepreneurs in the effective way of displaying products to gain maximum impact.

To provide MSMEs different strategies and methods of visual merchandising, resource speaker and designer, Mr. Rey Luciano Soliven shared how to enhance MSMEs’ appreciation of the power of attractive and effective displays and designs to boost and maximize sales. Mr. Soliven started his discussion with the objectives of visual merchandising. That is, to present the importance of physical visual merchandising as a strategic marketing tool, improve business productivity, boost sales and decrease mark down. He explained in detail how the MSMEs should arrange their products during trade fairs to make them more attractive to the customers. He suggested arranging their products in a simple way and with balance. Considering the background, the color which helps set mood and feelings, blocking, shelving, hanging, and product grouping.

As a product and creative design consultant, Mr. Soliven also shared some strategies with the MSMEs to help them improve their marketing strategies online. Some of the strategies are the following: making product videos, organization/ease of viewing, creating engagement with audio, always using high-quality photos, and branding. He also shared some tips on the proper way of taking photos of their products.

As he ended his presentation, Mr. Soliven entertained the questions from the participants. The activity ended with the awarding of Certificate of Appreciation to Mr. Soliven and a crowd shot.♦
