GameOps Inc. is part of the gaming future, at home and abroad.
A summit of Innovation
In February 2024, the picturesque shores of Boracay—a small island in central Philippines—became the epicenter of the gaming world with the GameDev Summit.
Amidst this confluence of creativity and tech, GameOps Inc. emerged as a beacon of innovation. Under the guidance of CEO Andro Baluyut, GameOps has transcended its inception as a promising start-up to become a leading force in global live operations services for video game publishers and developers.
From gamer to game-changer
Andro’s transformation from an enthralled young gamer to the leader of GameOps reflects a journey fueled by passion and ambition.
“Gaming has always been a part of me,” Andro shares. “Recognizing I had the experience to innovate within this space, I embarked on creating GameOps. Our mission was clear: to redefine the realms of game creation, improvement, and maintenance.”
Beyond traditional support
Boasting a team of over 300 dedicated professionals, GameOps distinguishes itself by redefining live operations and expanding its scope beyond traditional support to embrace performance management, workflow optimization, and strategic partnerships.
This holistic approach has established GameOps as a preferred partner in the industry.
Alexis Mae Geronga, Business Development Director at GameOps, emphasizes the importance of community and player engagement. “We aim to foster dynamic gaming communities, bridging communication between players and developers, thereby enhancing the gaming experience,” Geronga elucidates.
Reaching the European Union (EU) market
The competitive nature of the gaming industry demands constant innovation, especially in information technology (IT) capabilities.
The Philippine government’s Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) has been aiding GameOps and other gaming industry start-ups with policy and industry support to push them forward.
GameOps is currently undergoing expansion, aiming to establish its presence in the EU, Japan, and the North America to better serve its partners.
“This would not have happened at a faster pace without the assistance and guidance of the International Trade Centre and the DTI,” Geronga shares.
With support from the EU-funded ARISE Plus Philippines project, GameOps improved their capacity in effective export marketing planning and utilizing social media to engage with wider audiences.
The project also enabled GameOps’ participation in international fairs including Nordic Game in Malmö, Sweden, Gamescom in Cologne, Germany, and Game Connection in Paris, France.
The participation offered GameOps a comprehensive pathway to its European expansion as the company recently signed a deal with a game company in Belgium. Opening an office in Europe is also on the cards.
“We hope that the project will continue helping the game development sector. Mentorship and exposure to the right conferences in the EU has so far strengthened our plans. Continuing the support will allow us to prove our credibility to potential partners,” notes Geronga.
Empowering the next generation
Andro and Alexis, both a member of the Game Developers Association of the Philippines (GDAP), are actively collaborating with government and international trade associations to nurture the gaming industry. Their latest initiative, MEE Games, an end-to-end incubator, aims to support Philippine-based indie game developers with resources, funding, and mentorship. The program’s first beneficiary, Fallen Tear: The Ascension by CMD Studios, highlights the potential of this visionary support.
A vision for the future
The GameDev Summit was more than an event; it was a move towards GameOps’ initiative to push the industry development forward, in partnership with the Game Developers Association of the Philippines. Andro’s philosophy of initiative-taking improvement and continuous innovation has positioned GameOps as an essential ally to publishers and developers globally. “Patience, persistence, and the desire to positively impact others define our success,” he advises aspiring entrepreneurs.
Under Andro’s stewardship, GameOps stands as a testament to the transformative power of vision and dedication in the online gaming world. The company’s journey, marked by the GameDev Summit in Boracay, continues to inspire and shape the future of the video gaming industry worldwide. ♦
The ARISE Plus Philippines project is enabling Philippine exporters to take advantage of European Union (EU) market access and the trade privileges granted under the Generalized System of Preference (GSP+). It supports the overall EU-Philippines trade relationship and trade-related policies.
ARISE Plus Philippines is a project of the Government of the Philippines, with the Department of Trade and Industry as lead partner together with the Department of Agriculture, Food and Drug Administration, Bureau of Customs, the Department of Science and Technology, as well as the private sector. It is funded by the EU with the International Trade Centre (ITC) as the technical agency for the project.
