THE Department of Trade and Industry-Export Marketing Bureau (DTI-EMB) and the Philippine Trade and Investment Center (PTIC)-Toronto will lead the Philippine delegation for the Outbound Business Matching Mission (OBMM) on April 26 and May 10 and the participation to SIAL 2018 from May 2 to 4 at Palais des Congrès, Montreal, Canada.

To be led by EMB Director Senen M. Perlada and Senior Trade Commissioner Maria Roseni M. Alvero of PTIC-Toronto, 12 out of the 14 Philippine participants are featured on Trade Facilitation Office (TFO)-Canada’s web site.

TFO-Canada is a provider of consultancy and trade leads for exporters in emerging and developing countries who want to penetrate the Canadian market. They also extend web-based resources to advance the trade capacities of their pool of registered exporters. Some of these web-based resources tackle Overview of Intellectual Property: Trademarks for  small and medium sized exporters, Preparing for Trade Show Participation, Halal Market in Canada, Understanding the Proposed Safe Food for Canadians Regulations, and Food Safety Systems: A Competitive Edge for Suppliers.

Last year the EMB in coordination with PTIC-Toronto submitted a proposal to TFO-Canada presenting the current needs and requirements of the companies interested to participate in the OBMM to Canada. TFO-Canada assessed the submitted proposal together with the profiles of the exporters. EMB received the letter of acceptance from TFO-Canada in November 2017 and continuous collaboration among EMB, PTIC-Toronto and TFO-Canada followed in preparation for the OBMM to Canada.

Participating exporting companies are being assisted through various global export advancement initiatives such as information session focused on the Canadian market, preparing and ushering them to strategic marketing and promotions by participating in SIAL Canada 2018 and market access support by facilitating the web-based resources of TFO-Canada. The delegation is composed of representatives from Bahaghari Global Food Inc.; CocoPlus Aquarian Development Corp.; GreenLife Coconut Products Philippines Inc.; KF Nutri Foods International Inc.; La Carlota Food Enterprises; Lao Integrated Farms Inc. and  Le Potager Inc. (The Fruit Garden).

Also participating are Magicmelt Foods Inc./Green Enviro-Manangement Systems Inc. (GEMS); Mama Tina Pasta Co. Inc.  (a member of La Filipina Uy Gongco Group of Companies); Nattural Quality Corp.Natural Health Philippines Inc.Pasciolco Agri-VenturesPearlFoods International Inc.; and RPO Fine Foods Corp.

Philippine Pavilion at SIAL Canada 2018 will occupy booth numbers 190, 401, and  500a.

The SIAL Canada 2018 – “The North American Food Innovation Exhibition” – is a food and beverage trade show featuring food and food products, canned food, natural food, health and dietary food, processed food, cooked food, cuisines and delicacies, raw materials and ingredients, and other food items.
