THE Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) will showcase  the services of 50 logistics companies during the first Logistics Services Philippines (LSPH) Conference and Exhibition on December 6 and 7, at the Philippine International Convention Center (PICC) in Pasay City.

Organized by the DTI’s Competitiveness Bureau (CB)  and supported by the Board of Investments (BOI), with the Center for International Trade Expositions and Missions (CITEM) as events management team, the first-time event will be held back-to-back with the DTI-EMB’s National Export Congress (NEC) on December 7 also at PICC.

Anchored on the theme “Trabaho at Negosyo: Creating Jobs in the Logistics Services Sector,” the LSPH will include topics on logistics services sector and opportunities for job creation; logistics services in the inclusive innovation and industrial strategy; and increasing global competitiveness ranking on logistics performance index.

Also lined up are topics on private-public sector dialogue on increasing global competitiveness ranking in logistics performance index; setting a regulatory reform to ease doing business in the logistics industry; investment opportunities and value propositions in the country’s present logistics system; and creating jobs and addressing human resource gaps on the logistics service sector.

Officials from the Departments of Transportation, Public Works and Highways, Information and Communications Technology, DTI, the Interior and Local Government,  Labor and Employment, Education, Commission on Higher Education, Bureau of Customs, Technical Education and Skills Development Authority, Professional Regulatory Commission, Land Transportation Office, Philippine Ports Authority, and the Maritime Industry Authority (Marina) are among the invited panelists.

The event is a major component of the National Exporters’ Week (NEW), an annual event led by the DTI, in coordination with the Export Development Council and the Philippine Exporters Confederation Inc. (Philexport).  The NEW is being held every first week of December per Presidential Proclamation 931, series of 1996 and House Resolution 33.

The NEW features week-long activities with the NEC as the main event that gathers the country’s  exporters of goods and services.

The event is intended to showcase the service offerings of the logistics service providers to potential clients; connect logistics exhibitors and exporters/manufacturers in one location, and negotiate with other logistics service providers, business owners, and meet government agencies concerned with the logistics industry.
