ORLANDO, Florida—The Philippines Healthcare Information Management Services (HIMS) participated at the Annual Health Information Management Systems Society (HIMSS) Conference from February 11 to 15, 2019, at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Florida, USA.

The 2019 HIMSS Global Conference and Exhibition is the leading health information and technology conference that brings together over 45,000 professionals from more than 90 countries for the education, innovation and collaboration to transform health through information and technology.

The conference featured over 300 education sessions, 1,300 vendors, hundreds of special programs and networking events.

The Philippine delegation was led by the Department of Trade and Industry’s Export Marketing Bureau (EMB) and Foreign Trade Service Corps (FTSC), the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT). Joining the government group were nine Philippine companies that included Pointwest Technology Corp. USA, ADEC Innovations Healthcare USA, Ascentify Learning Media Inc., Ubicom USA Inc., Multinational Currencies Business Process Outsourcing Inc., Pointwest Innovations Corp., Advanced World Solutions Inc. and ADEC Solutions USA.

The Philippines hosted a networking and business matching reception attended by health-care professionals and business owners ranging from small to large health-care facilities and institutions.

The networking reception held at Restaurant Cuba Libre gave an opportunity for HIMSS delegates to network with the Philippine delegation, and a short presentation highlighted the Philippines’s strong economic growth and potential partnerships with the Philippines in the health information management space.

The Philippine delegation also served as ambassadors in promoting the sector’s strengths, advantages and capabilities.  The group also held company visits to health facilities in Orlando, including the Orlando Regional Medical Center, AdventHealth Orlando, and Serenity Adult Family Care Home, which facilitated discussions on the impact of technology on health-care information management, including for American small and medium enterprises (SMEs) that in the near future, could require information-technology services and solutions.

The Philippine participation at the HIMSS 2019 and facility visits were organized by the EMB in coordination with the Philippine Trade and Investment Center Washington, D.C. (PTIC-WDC) and the DICT.

The Philippines remains one of the leading suppliers of HIMS services worldwide, with 132,993 full-time employees (FTEs) and revenue of $2.771 billion in 2017.

The roadshow is part of the continuous efforts of the Philippines to help the HIMS-BPM Industry reach its $5-billion revenue and 210,000 FTEs target by 2022.
