THE Philippine Trade Training Center (PTTC), through the Department of Trade and Industry’s Regional Operations Group (DTI-ROG), in cooperation with various government departments, such as the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), Pag-IBIG, PhilHealth, SB Corp., and the Land Bank of the Philippines, recently conducted an entrepreneurship enhancement seminar for overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) attended by 167 OFWs, seafarers and their families.

As DTI-ROG Assistant Secretary Ameena  A. Fajardo emphasized in her opening message, the seminar “Negosyo Tayo, OFWs” was an adjunct to ROG’s business training-assistance programs for OFWs.

The afternoon session’s discussion focused on “Financial Literacy: Self-Sufficient During and After Employment Abroad” by Maria Teresita Dimaculangan, former president of Philippine Institution of Certified Public Accountants  Southern Metro Manila.

Vix Madlangbayan, from Go Negosyo Kapatid Mentor Me, likewise gave an inspirational talk on strategic business identification, entitled “Mindset Shift to Entrepreneurship.”

Other resource persons who provided valuable information on the government’s programs and services for OFWs were DOLE Assistant Secretary Amy Reyes, Policy and Program Development Division Chief of National Reintegration Center for OFWs Melvin C. Caseda, Elite Global Ambassador of Aim Global Maricar Cruz Santos, Pag-ibig Fund Information Officer Philip Raymund S. Salem, Sales Manager of Prime Realty Carlos Restituto and Small Business Corp. Account Officer Annalyn Serano.

The one-day seminar ended with a Business Game Workshop facilitated by PTTC Deputy Executive Director Elizabeth Manuel, which centered on the participants’ planning skills.
