Makati City, Philippines––The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) has partnered with Converge ICT Solutions Inc. to bridge the digital connectivity gap for micro, small, medium, and large enterprises (MSMEs) across the Philippines, with a particular focus on reaching far-flung areas.

Formalized through a memorandum of understanding (MOU) signed on September 10, the collaboration aims to bring high-speed internet connectivity and essential technologies to MSMEs, especially in underserved and remote communities.

During the signing ceremony, DTI Acting Secretary Cristina A. Roque recognized the significant role of digitalization in MSME development and reaffirmed the Department’s commitment to digitally transforming MSMEs.

“Digitalization is at the heart of our five-point agenda, and we are dedicated to providing MSMEs with the resources and opportunities they need to thrive in the digital age,” said Secretary Roque.

“Aligned with the vision of the ‘Bagong Pilipinas,’ we will ensure that every MSME, regardless of its size or location, has the opportunity to harness the power of digital technology and contribute to the prosperity of our nation,” the trade chief added.

This strategic partnership seeks to provide MSMEs access to essential technologies that will empower them to compete globally.

Under the MOU, the DTI will lead the planning, promotion, and implementation of digital initiatives tailored for MSMEs. These include training programs, workshops, and seminars.

Complementing this partnership, the DTI recently launched the National Artificial Intelligence Strategy Roadmap 2.0 and unveiled the country’s pioneering Center for AI Research—a clear roadmap and a dedicated center for research and development.

This is line with President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s directive from his recent State of the Nation Address to build a robust connected and networked environment, improve data access and data value extraction, and upskill and reskill the workforce.

Secretary Roque expressed confidence in Converge ICT Solutions Inc.’s capabilities to amplify these efforts.

“Converge’s commitment to providing affordable and reliable connectivity, tailored products and services will be instrumental in bridging the digital divide and empowering MSMEs to reach their full potential,” she added.

Through the newly signed MOU, Converge ICT Solutions Inc. will leverage its extensive fiber optic network to provide local MSMEs’ with high-speed internet connectivity. Furthermore, the company will develop and offer cost-effective products and services, specifically designed for MSMEs.

Converge ICT Solutions Inc. will also install internet services for qualified MSMEs within three business days of receiving complete application requirements, subject to network availability and port capacity in the area.

CEO and Co-Founder Dennis Anthony Uy reiterated Converge ICT Solutions Inc.’s dedication to boost business enterprises in the country through digitalization.

“We’ve never strayed from our mission to ‘leave no one behind,’ and we certainly won’t for the sector that comprises 99.5% of business enterprises in the country,” said Uy.
