DTI-Laguna Trains Business Counsellors to Intensify Consumer Education and Protection

VICTORIA, LAGUNA – In conjunction with the Consumer Welfare Month 2024 celebration, the Department of Trade and Industry – Laguna Provincial Office (DTI-Laguna) held a Training of Trainers session for Negosyo Center Business Counselors on October 1, 2024, in Victoria, Laguna. The said training also included participation from on-the-job trainees and government interns from the Department of Labor and Employment.

Aligned with the CWM 2024 theme, “Be Smart, Assert Your Consumer Rights!”, the training addressed essential topics such as Consumer Rights and Responsibilities, Online Filing of Complaints, and the Procedures and Requirements for Service and Repair Enterprises Accreditation. The training aimed to equip participants with the knowledge and skills needed to effectively relay consumer protection information to consumers.

To enhance the learning experience, a quiz contest on consumer protection was organized as part of the training evaluation, allowing participants to engage in a fun and interactive way while reinforcing their understanding.

Understanding consumer rights is the first step to protecting oneself and ensuring fair treatment. Being smart and assertive about consumer rights involves learning the basics of consumer rights, such as product warranties, return policies, and product pricing. It also means staying informed about consumer issues, trends, and scams while taking the time to research products and services before making a purchase (ALSLinga, DTI-Laguna). ♦
