Cebu, Philippines—Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Acting Secretary Cristina Roque visited the facilities of Profood International Corporation, the largest Philippine-based dried fruit producer, in Mandaue City, August 30.  

The visit highlighted Profood’s significant contribution to the Philippine economy, particularly in generating employment and promoting rural development. The company employs thousands of Filipino workers in its factories and provides livelihood opportunities to countless farmers across the country. 

The trade chief also toured the Profood’s state-of-the-art facilities and engaged with company officials, including Founder and Chairman Justin Sy Uy.  

During the discussion, Secretary Roque underscored the government’s support for the food processing industry, a key driver of economic growth and rural development.
