MAKATI CITY, PHILIPPINES — The Department of Trade and Industry’s Consumer Protection Group (DTI-CPG) has launched a dialogue series called “Kapihan with CPG,” aiming to strengthen collaboration with the Department’s stakeholders, as well as address and discuss pressing industry topics concerning them.
Initially convened on 12 April 2024, the Kapihan invited representatives from the manufacturing and retail sectors of basic necessities and prime commodities (BNPCs) and will be conducted every two weeks.
This initiative aligns with the DTI’s mandate to protect the consumers and ensure fair trade practices. It signifies the continuation of dialogue between the DTI and BNPCs’ manufacturers.
DTI-CPG Assistant Secretary Amanda Nograles emphasized the significance of these dialogues. “This ‘Kapihan’ series, though informal in nature, provides a valuable opportunity for industry stakeholders to come together, exchange insights, and work towards a common goal of ensuring the availability of goods at reasonable prices,” she stated.
“By fostering collaboration and addressing key issues, we aim to promote a level playing field that benefits both businesses and consumers,” Asec. Nograles added.
The manufacturers expressed their support and appreciated the DTI’s efforts in enhancing its collaborative efforts to jointly address industry concerns for the welfare of the consumers.
The meeting was attended by representatives from BNPC manufacturers namely: Unilever Philippines, Inc., Procter & Gamble Philippines, Inc., Monde Nissin Corporation, Universal Robina Corporation, San Miguel Foods, Maunlad Canning, Inc., Nestle Philippines, Alaska Milk Corporation, Century Pacific Food Inc., Canned Sardines Association of the Philippines, and, Nutri-Asia, Inc. ♦
