Mandaluyong City, Philippines—The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) will spearhead the National Arts and Crafts Fair (NACF) 2024 to showcase the evolution of Filipino craftsmanship. This year’s fair, held from October 23 to 27 at the Megatrade Hall 1-3, SM Megamall, emphasizes the dynamic interplay between tradition and innovation with over 250 exhibitors.

Organized by the DTI-Bureau of Market Development, Promotions, and OTOP (BMDPO) in collaboration with the Office of Senator Loren Legarda, NCAF 2024 celebrate the Philippines’ rich cultural heritage while empowering micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs), local artisans, and traditional communities in expanding their reach to a wider market.

NCAF 2024 will featurethe Schools of Living Traditions (SLTs), where community-led centers preserve traditional craftsmanship. Visitors can explore unique products crafted using time-honored techniques from communities across the Philippines, including handwoven textiles, carved woodworks, and intricate beadwork. By spotlighting the work of indigenous and rural artisans, the fair champions sustainable livelihoods and safeguard cultural heritage.

Furthermore, the fair will present innovative designs that blend Filipino traditions with contemporary trends. Visitors can explore new collections in fashion and home décor that reflect the creative evolution of local artisans in today’s global market.

Beyond the exhibitor displays, the fair will offer workshops and live demonstrations to educate the public on the importance of preserving the nation’s arts and crafts through sustainable practices. These activities aim to inspire both artisans and consumers to support local craftsmanship and guarantee that traditional techniques are maintained for future generations.

NCAF 2024 is bolstered by partnerships with various government agencies and institutions committed to supporting local artisans to grow their businesses. Key collaborators include the Department of Science and Technology (DOST), the Assistance to Filipino Artisans, and the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA).

Moreover, the DOST’s CEST Community Empowerment through Science and Technology and DOST-PTRI Textile Empowerment initiatives will provide visitors with insight into how technology enhances and elevates traditional craftsmanship.

Beyond these agencies, the fair is also backed by other industry partners who provide product development, design innovation, and intellectual property protection.

This collaborative ecosystem is bolstered by Senator Loren Legarda, who has supported NACF by providing key legislative support. This ensures that NACF and other vital programs for traditional artisans and the MSME sector receive the necessary funding and resources to thrive. This effort extends to initiative such as the NCCA.

The NACF 2024 is open to the public with free admission. For more information, visit BMDPO’s social media pages: @DTI.BMDPO on Facebook, @ dti.bmdpo on Instagram, and @DTI_BMDPO on Twitter.
