The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) pushes forward in redefining energy solutions with the Philippine Trade and Investment Center in Jakarta’s recent strategic visit with Pertamina Gas Negara in Indonesia, on January 23, 2025.

PTIC Jakarta provided updates on CREATE MORE incentives and shared initial insights of the types of industries present in Batangas, Bataan, Clark, and Subic. Moreover, the strategic importance of the Luzon Economic Corridor, which plays a significant role in attracting investments, was also highlighted.

The meeting was a follow through of Pertamina’s visit to Manila last November 2024, where Pertamina shared its keen interest in entering the Philippine energy market, particularly in developing LNG hubs and supporting the conversion of diesel power plants to gas. Pertamina was able to meet the Department of Energy (DOE) and MERALCO, which provided an overview of the Philippine energy sector and the role of Philippine National Oil Company (PNOC) in natural gas supply and demand.

Pertamina oversees both domestic and international LNG and natural gas operations which span across upstream production to downstream distribution. The company’s infrastructure comprises of a vast network of pipelines, gas drilling stations, and LPG processing facilities enabling it to offer comprehensive solutions in gas transmission, distribution, retail, trading, and storage. Additionally, Pertamina is a diversified company which operates in various sectors such as insurance, consulting, hospitality, and property management.

The DTI, through PTIC Jakarta, reaffirms its support for fostering foreign direct investments in the Philippines through its commitment to forming meaningful and innovative collaborations to make the Philippines as one of the most attractive business destinations in the region.
