Philippine Economic Briefing in London, 25 September 2018
The Philippine Economic Briefing addressed a packed room of around 250 attendees from the corporate and financial UK sectors. The forum provided an update on the Duterte administration’s economic agenda, the impressive performance and potential of the PH economy, and investment opportunities – including the Build! Build! Build! Program.
The PH in the Global Value Chain
Trade and Industry Secretary Ramon Lopez, Budget and Management Secretary Benjamin Diokno, National Economic and Development Authority Secretary Ernesto Pernia, and Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas Deputy Governor Diwa Guinigundo took part in an insightful discussion on the Philippines’ role in the global value chain, in a roundtable briefing with corporate members of the Asia House and selected UK companies. They provided a comprehensive background about the current state of the Philippine economy and growth industries, with particular emphasis on the resurgence of the manufacturing sector and strength of the services sector.
The briefing was chaired by Asia House Chief Executive, Michael Lawrence.
Investing in PH Infrastructure
Secretary Lopez was joined by Secretaries Arthur Tugade and Mark Villar, and BCDA CEO Vivencio Dizon in a roundtable discussion with British infrastructure and banking executives to discuss how UK companies can get more involved in the country’s ambitious Build! Build! Build! Program.
Asia House hosted the ministerial delegation and the discussion was chaired by Asia House’s Chief Executive, Michael Lawrence.
UK-ASEAN Business Council Breakfast Briefing
In a roundtable hosted by UK-ASEAN Business Council, Secretary Lopez engaged in conversation with members of the UKABC and the British Chamber to highlight that the PH economy stands on solid foundations that will support inclusive growth and balanced development. The meeting provided an opportunity for UK companies to get the Secretary’s views on their specific areas of business interest in the PH.
