In the heart of Mexico City, colors splash from Filipino creativity—coming to life as the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) unveiled the “Filipino Art Nook in Mexico,” on February 26, 2025, at the Sociedad Mexicana de Geografía y Estadistica, A.C., Centro, Ciudad de México.

Aligned with the goals of the DTI Secretary Ma. Cristina A. Roque to support the country’s Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSME) and the push for creative economy, the exhibition showcased the Philippines’ rich artistic heritage and Filipino visual artists’ talent, highlighting its export and investment potential positioning the Philippines’ and the Filipino art as a global economic asset.

The Philippine Trade and Investment Center in Mexico (PTIC-Mexico) headed by Commercial Counsellor John Paul Iñigo in collaboration with the Philippine Embassy in Mexico organized this intimate gathering attended by around 50 guests composed of members of the Diplomatic Corps, businessmen, art gallery owners, and officials from different art institutions.

A group of around 15 people, including officials from the Philippine Trade and Investment Center in Mexico, pose in a historic courtyard with tall columns and greenery. A statue stands behind them, and colorful artwork is visible on display in the background.

The Exposition featured the works of Rodney James de Guzman, Maregene Garcia, Ted Camahalan (TedCa), Erasmos Talosig, Gene Geronimo (Gene Tonic), Wanda Totanes, Mark Coleen, Rufe Gomez, Camille Chua Tan (Frillion), Manuel Yarte, Buddy Cabrera, Ida Robles, Jojo Garcia, Alex Ibardolaza, Raeche Dacanay, Jonathan Madeja, and Philipp Badon, who worked in collaboration with Ms. Geraldine “Gigi” Phua Lim of Walls Gallery Philippines.

The Launching of the Philippine Art Nook is the first of three of PTIC-Mexico’s programs aimed at elevating Filipino artistry, introduce Filipino Art to Mexican collectors and galleries, and promote Philippine Art as a viable export in the international scene.
