The Philippines participated in CommunicAsia in May 2017 at the Marina Bay Sands & Convention Centre in Singapore. Spearheaded by the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT), the delegation showcased technologies and capabilities Philippine companies in IT services, solutions and outsourcing; data analytics; digital platform solutions; and telecommunications.
Furthermore, the organizer – Singapore Exhibition Services – chose the Philippines as the Country-in-Focus for this year providing an exclusive Philippines Connect session. At the forum, DICT Undersecretary Monchito Ibrahim presented the National Broadband plan for improving the connectivity in the country. He also discussed various ICT initiatives of the government. He was joined by the Philippine Software Industry Association President Jonathan de Luzuriaga who covered the Philippine IT-BPM Roadmap 2022.
Commercial Counsellor Glenn Peñaranda, representing the Department of Trade and Industry in Singapore, shared the business climate and opportunities in the Philippines. Philippine Ambassador to Singapore Antonio Morales attended as well and provided the opening address to welcome the guests.
