Promotions staff of the Philippine Accreditation Bureau – Promotion and Documentation Division had a one-on-one coaching session on the use of Google Hangouts for online meetings with Mr. Raymund Yulo, Hardware Product Support Manager of Google Services Philippines on 27 August 2019 at 11th Floor, Uptown Place Tower 1, 11th Avenue Corner 11TH Drive, BGC Taguig.
Google Hangouts is a communication platform developed by Google which includes messaging, video chat, and Voice Over Internet Protocol (VOIP) features. It replaces three messaging products that Google had implemented concurrently within its services, including Google Talk, Google+ Messenger, and Hangouts, a video chat system present within Google+.
Google hangouts plus the use of other social media platforms offer a wide range of options that allow users to multitask and share a broad variety of information in real time. Through this application, we can hold virtual meetings using an environmental-friendly and free video conferencing tool. .
The use of social media and online platforms has become the norm in today’s time-short generation. Attending meetings is one of the tasks that even busy executives have to contend with. With the worsening traffic, productive time that can be better used to do the more important concerns is lost. This communication tool allows anyone to attend to their commitments without leaving their offices or homes.
One of PAB’s objectives involves exploring opportunities to fully maximize the benefits of modern technology that will be used in present and future undertakings. This is also in line with the initiative of PAB to conduct virtual meetings among higher officials of the government and those from the private sector. Online platforms give ease and convenience in booking meeting schedules of high government officials like PAB Council members. This will also eliminate time wasting moments by presenting easy-to-use web conferencing applications that officials can readily access from their desk or office.Lastly, PAB hopes to contribute to the green initiative of the DTI through the use of web-based and other online applications. In our small way, PAB can help in saving Mother Earth by reducing our carbon footprint.
