This Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA)-assisted project aims to develop an enhanced training program and curriculum for TESDA and state universities and colleges (SUCs) that are more responsive to the needs of the industries. The project also aims to promote SME integration in the supply and value chains through an enhanced linkage promotion program between large companies and their local suppliers. The target sites for the project are special economic zones in Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, and Cebu.
The proposed project implementation period of this project is from June 2017 to May 2020.
ACCOMPLISHMENTS IN 2017
- Prepared and submitted DTI’s Letter of Consent to DFA-Office of Asian and Pacific Affairs (ASPAC) regarding the inclusion of the project to the Government of Japan's Fiscal Year 2016 (JFY 2016) Technical Cooperation Program, as well as the extension of these technical cooperation programs.
ACCOMPLISHMENTS AS OF 2016:
- Endorsed project proposal to NEDA for review and onward transmittal to Embassy of Japan. Also endorsed the proposal to CHED and TESDA as co-implementing agencies.
- Organized a consultative meeting with concerned DTI bureaus and offices on 28 September 2016 to gather inputs and comments on the new project. The group discussed with representatives from JICA Philippines details of the implementation of the proposed project such as the pilot sites, target industries and sectors, as well as some suggested training programs and linkage promotion activities.
