MANILA CITY – Calapan City in Oriental Mindoro was recognized as the most resilient component city in the country during the 2024 Creative Cities and Municipalities Congress held on 23 August 2024 at Manila Hotel in Ermita, Manila.

Calapan City also secured a Top 5 ranking in the Infrastructure Pillar. The city’s good overall standing puts them on the 5th spot in the group of component cities. Puerto Princesa City in Palawan was recognized as the 8th most competitive highly urbanized city in terms of infrastructure.

Among the 1st and 2nd class municipalities, San Jose in Occidental Mindoro ranked 8th under the Economic Dynamism Pillar. Additionally, among all 3rd and 4th class municipalities in the country, San Fernando in Romblon was recognized as the most resilient and the 7th most competitive town in terms of Economic Dynamism. Lubang in Occidental Mindoro and Looc in Romblon ranked 4th and 6th, respectively, for their economic activities. Cajidiocan in Romblon was also awarded as the 7th most improved municipality.

In the category of 5th and 6th class municipalities, Kalayaan in the northern part of Palawan was recognized as the 7th most competitive municipality under the Government Efficiency Pillar. This

According to the Cities and Municipalities Competitiveness Index website, rankings of cities and municipalities are based on the sum of their scores on five pillars, namely: Economic Dynamism, Government Efficiency, Infrastructure, Resiliency, and Innovation. ♦
