BOAC, MARINDUQUE – The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Marinduque Provincial Office conducted the “Hazard Analysis & Critical Control Point (HACCP) Seminar & Writeshop” on May 6-8, 2024 at the DTI Marinduque Negosyo Konsyumer Training Center in Isok I, Boac, Marinduque.
The event saw active participation from 24 food micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) across the province.
DTI Marinduque Chief Trade-Industry Development Specialist (CTIDS) Mark Dennis Cortez, in his opening remarks, highlighted the crucial role of HACCP in ensuring food safety and enhancing the food industry’s standards.
The seminar featured Mr. Guilberto A. Veluz, a registered Food Technologist and Quality Champion of the International Trade Center-ARISE Plus Program, as the resource person.
Mr. Veluz commenced the seminar with housekeeping rules, participant introductions, and a session to outline expectations for the three-day event. Key highlights of the seminar included in-depth discussions on Standard Sanitation Operating Procedures, the seven principles of HACCP, awareness of EU Food Safety Regulations, and hands-on workshops focused on documenting processes, procedures, and controls.
The sessions provided a collaborative learning environment, equipping participants with the essential tools to enhance their business operations through the establishment of documented processes and procedures. Also, online pre-test and post-test was conducted to assess the participants’ knowledge.
The seminar concluded with a certificate awarding ceremony, where participants received their certificates of attendance, and Mr. Guilberto A. Veluz was honored with a certificate of appreciation for his invaluable contribution.
In his closing remarks, DTI Marinduque Provincial Director Roniel Macatol expressed his gratitude to Mr. Veluz for his dedication to the development of Marinduque MSMEs, acknowledging the significant benefits derived from his technical expertise under the ITC-ARISE Plus Program.
