Makati City — The Tatak Pinoy: OBRA MIMAROPA successfully concluded its inaugural trade show on Filipino entrepreneurship, creativity, and innovation, recording a total of PHP 6 million in generated sales and attracting a growing number of buyers and supporters from around the metro.
Held at the Glorietta Activity Center from 24 to 27 October 2024, the trade show featured local products ranging from handicrafts, food, fashion, lifestyle, eco-friendly goods, health and wellness products. The event also featured experts from the music, film, fashion, and art industries.
Thirteen exhibitors hailed from Marinduque, eight from Occidental Mindoro, four from Oriental Mindoro, 15 from Palawan, seven from Romblon, and five exhibitors represented various government agencies.
The Bureau of Jail Management and Penology – MIMAROPA region gathered six district jails from across the region to market their products. These include coconut shell, lampshade, basket, crocheted products, and many more.
According to DTI MIMAROPA Regional Director Rodolfo Mariposque, “What makes this iteration extra special is that it brings together the creative sector and our local industries.”
DTI Romblon’s assisted MSME, Sea Warriors Furniture, bagged the top sales award, generating a total of over PHP1 million.
Among the exceptional entrepreneurs for non food category Ara Pilak’s upcycled garments from Palawan received the Most Creative Product Award. Meanwhile for the food category, Lionheart Farms’ energy drink from Palawan garnered the Most Innovative Product Award.
The Provincial Government of Marinduque earned the Best Bayanihan Exhibit award, satisfying the criteria for management, creativity and visual impact during the trade show.
A collection of products, from rattan bikes to bamboo handbags, developed across the MIMAROPA region through various DTI programs such as the OTOP, SSF, CARP, CFIDP, and Negosyo Center were on display at the product showcase booth.
On second day of the trade show, exhibitors and participants had the opportunity to learn from local experts through a series of informative talks such as Halal standards and application requirements, food safety practices, and responsible seafood sourcing.
Moreover, celebrity chef Rosebud Benitez hosted a live cooking demo of recipes using coconut products from the region such as coco sugar, coco jam, and virgin coconut oil.
The trade fair concluded with informative talks on intellectual property rights, visual arts, music and fashion industry. It also included a film screening of “Skeytbord”, the 2024 Champion of MIMAROPAlikula, produced by students from Romblon State University.
Tatak Pinoy: OBRA MIMAROPA is in accordance with Republic Act No. 11904, An Act Providing for the Development and Promotion of The Philippine Creative Industries, and the Tatak Pinoy Act, which aims to empower Philippine industries to be globally competitive. ♦
