Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Region 10 continues its commitment to a healthy environment with coastal clean-up activities in Opol, Misamis Oriental on October 15, 2024 and in Taboc Norte, Oroquieta City, Misamis Occidental on October 18, 2024.
The clean-up drive was part of the Department’s celebration of Consumer Welfare Month 2024.
Celebrated every October of the year, Consumer Welfare Month aims to further improve awareness on consumer rights and issues and to encourage discussions to address consumer complaints and policies.
This year’s theme “Be Smart, Assert Your Consumer Rights!”, focuses on the eight basic consumer rights; one of which is the right to a healthy environment.
As part of the efforts to uphold the right to a healthy environment, the coastal clean-up drive was conducted to raise awareness about the environmental impact of consumer habits and encourage individuals to take responsibility in preserving natural resources for future generations.
The coastal clean-up drive in Opol, Misamis Oriental was participated by personnel of the DTI-10 Regional Office in coordination with the local government unit (LGU) of Opol.
Meanwhile, the clean-up drive in Oroquieta City, Misamis Occidental was organized by DTI Misamis Occidental, in collaboration with Service Advocates and Volunteers for Environment (SAVE) Society Inc., recognized consumer organization of DTI Misamis Occidental; City Environment and Natural Resources Office (ENRO); and Barangay Taboc Norte. ♦
