NORTHERN MINDANAO — Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Region 10 joins the Northern Mindanao Regional Innovation Program and Exhibit 2023 on April 20-22, 2023 at SM City Cagayan de Oro, Cagayan de Oro City.

With the theme, “Strengthening the Innovation Ecosystem in Region X,” the celebration aimed to inform all regional stakeholders on the innovation ecosystem in the region and how to move forward towards a matatag, maginhawa, at panatag na buhay para sa lahat; forge industry-academe-government-financiers partnership or collaboration; creating curiosity, creativity, and agility among Filipinos especially the young; create or establish a pool of strategic innovative leaders; and recognize regional innovators.   

The program and exhibit showcased innovation programs and projects of Northern Mindanao and featured series of innovation talks.

DTI-10 Reginal Director Ermedio J. Abang, in his opening message during the second day of the Northern Mindanao Regional Innovation Program and Exhibit 2023, said that it is important for MSMEs to explore and appreciate innovative tools “available for them to create more value for the growth and protection of their businesses.”

“Innovation should be seen as a long-term investment instead of cost. With more new businesses flourishing, more MSMEs should also be exposed to the idea that innovation is not tied to size. A micro or small business can create breakthrough changes.” RD Abang said.

The Northern Mindanao Regional Innovation Program and Exhibit 2023 was held in celebration of National Innovation Day, which is celebrated annually every April 21 to promote public awareness and national support for innovation. ♦
