Malaybalay City, Bukidnon – Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Bukidnon kicked off the 2024 Consumer Welfare Month (CWM) with a series of activities aimed at empowering consumers and promoting their rights.
This year’s theme is “Be Smart, Assert Your Consumer Rights!”
One of the major events was the CWM Quiz Bowl organized at Robinsons Mall in Valencia City.
The quiz bowl was participated by Grades 9 and 10 students from 27 schools.
Noeme Salvador from Valencia National High School emerged as the champion, followed by Kynn Dejamyk Juson from Bukidnon State University in second place and Lavelia Jane Gementiza of Kiburiao National High School in third place.
The top three winners represented the Province of Bukidnon in the DTI Regional Quiz Bowl in Cagayan de Oro City on October 22, 2024.
Other activities conducted include Diskwento Caravan in Libona on October 1, Media Briefing on October 6, Consumer Education Seminar (CES) for MSMEs in San Fernando on October 8, Bagwis Awarding on October 9, Smart Consumer Challenge Awarding on October 11, Product Standards Monitoring on October 14, Fair Trade Laws Briefing & Consumer Complaints Handling Seminar for MSMEs in Valencia City on October 15, Sustainable Consumer Seminar in Malaybalay City on October 29, and Special Monitoring of Candles for Undas Preparations on October 30-31.
The Consumer Welfare Month is celebrated annually every October to raise awareness and disseminate information on consumer rights and responsibilities.
