Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Camiguin successfully conducted a Capacity Building Seminar on Intellectual Property Programs and Services on July 9, 2024 at the Mambajao Municipal Hall, Lakas, Poblacion, Mambajao, Camiguin.

The training was participated by 29 DTI Negosyo Center Business Counselors, DTI Camiguin personnel, and Local Economic Development and Investment Promotions Officers (LEDIPOS) of the local government unit (LGU) of the province.  

The speakers and facilitators were from the Intellectual Property of the Philippines (IPOPHL), an attached agency of DTI that helps micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in registering their trademarks, patents, copyrights, and others.

The training aimed to equip the participants with knowledge on the intellectual property (IP) system, including how to protect intellectual properties and intellectual property enforcement. Topics include Protecting the IPs, Introduction to Patent, Utility Model and Industrial Design, Trademark, Copyright, Geographical Indications (GIs), and other programs and services of IPOPHL.

The Capacity Building Seminar on Intellectual Property Programs and Services was conducted in line with the National MSME Development Week, which is celebrated annually every second week of July to raise awareness on the primacy of MSMEs in nation-building. ♦
