Cagayan de Oro City, Misamis Oriental – Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Misamis Occidental joins the Department of Agriculture and other government line agencies in formulating the Provincial Agriculture and Fishery Investment and Development Plan (PAFID) during a workshop conducted at the TIEZA Gardens of Malasag Eco-Tourism Village, Cugman, Cagayan de Oro City last November 21-22, 2024.

The two-day activity is the fourth round of consultation following a series of regional and provincial consultations in Bukidnon and Lanao del Norte on October 2024.

The workshop aims to harmonize the stakeholder plans and initiatives towards the common goal of increasing inward investments in the agriculture and fishery sectors.

During her presentation of DTI Programs and Services, DTI Misamis Occidental Comprehensive Agrarian Reform Program (CARP) Senior Trade and Industry Development Specialist, Margie G. Baldezamo, emphasized the strategic role of DTI’s Industry Cluster Enhancement Program towards developing globally competitive MSMEs in the agriculture, fishery, and manufacturing sectors.

The clustering and consolidation of products and producers strengthen raw material supply base for agri-preneurs to be able to confidently respond to global market opportunities.

Furthermore, Baldezamo shed light on DTI’s Shared Service Facilities (SSF) Program aimed at boosting MSME productivity and efficiency through improved access to technology.

The Provincial Agriculture and Fishery Investment and Development Plan Workshop resulted with a draft provincial plan which will serve as reference for the crafting of municipal and city-level investment plans by respective local government participants.

The participants additionally hoped that the workshop will yield localized interventions leading towards increased agricultural productivity, better access to affordable nutritious food, and investment-attractive agriculture and fishery sectors.

The workshop was attended by representatives from national government agencies and municipal and city agriculture officers of the provinces of Misamis Occidental and Camiguin. ♦
