NORTHERN MINDANAO — Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Misamis Oriental formalizes its support to 12 farmer organizations and 2 micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in Misamis Oriental with a signing of a Matching Grant Agreement through its Rural Agro-Industrial Partnership for Inclusive Development and Growth (RAPID Growth) special project.
RAPID Growth Project is a value chain based development program which seeks to establish strategic partnership among key players of the focused value chain to achieve the goal of increasing income of small farmers and unemployed rural women and men by providing enabling conditions for the sustained growth of micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) and establish strong backward linkages with farmers in the coffee, cacao, coconut, and processed fruits and nuts sectors.
The provision of a conditional matching grant is one of the key features of the RAPID Growth project under the first component which is to provide direct assistance to beneficiaries.
The matching grant is a development intervention which aims to support the overall competitiveness of the selected priority industries of the project and strengthen the capacities of the processes and actors within specific value chains.
Through the signed agreement, 1,113 coffee farmers from 12 farmer organizations in Misamis Oriental will benefit from the P5.6 million matching grant while 2 MSMEs in the same province will benefit from the P1.9 million matching grant.
The beneficiaries will be provided with seedlings, fertilizers, post-harvest facilities, equipment, and capability building activities in order to improve the competitiveness of their products.♦
