Cagayan de Oro City — Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Misamis Oriental assisted 20 micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in Misamis Oriental in developing their products and brands through the Assessment, Consultation, and Triage (ACT) program.
The ACT program provides support to MSMEs by enhancing their knowledge in packaging and labeling, food safety, and intellectual property to help make their products achieve market-ready standards.
It additionally facilitates the MSMEs’ access to new market opportunities by preparing them to participate in trade fairs and exhibitions.
The 2024 ACT Program included a plenary session with topics on packaging and labeling, branding, current packaging trends, and innovations.
This was followed by a one-on-one consultation with graphic designers for custom label designs and enhanced product labeling; food consultant from Northern Mindanao Food Innovation Center to assess the food products for quality, taste, and shelf life; and Intellectual Property (IP) consultant to guide MSMEs in securing trademarks and protecting the unique features of the products.
Following the consultation, each MSME will be provided with an initial set of specialized printed label designs to apply the new branding and enhance product appeal and consumer recognition.
DTI Misamis Oriental is planning to extend the ACT program to more MSMEs.
