Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Misamis Oriental actively participated in the price monitoring of essential drugs in Cagayan de Oro City that was led by the Department of Health (DOH) Region 10.

The joint price monitoring of essential medicines is part of the government’s effort to ensure affordable healthcare for everyone.

Spearheaded by DOH-10, the monitoring was joined by the members of the Cagayan de Oro City Price Coordinating Council (CDO CPCC) including the Cagayan de Oro Fil-Chinese Chambers of Commerce & Industry, Inc., City Government’s Information Office, and the Food and Drugs Administration (FDA).

The team checked the prices of commonly used medicines sold in 5 drugstores and hospital pharmacies in the city. The essential drugs monitored were Mefenamic Acid 500mg Tablet; Losartan 100mg Tablet; Paracetamol 120mg/5mL (125mg/5mL); Acetylcysteine 600mg Tablet Effervescent; and Co-Amoxiclav (Amoxicillin + Potassium Clavulanate) (As Trihydrate) 500mg + 125mg Tablet.

Letters of inquiry for establishments that were selling beyond the suggested retail price (SRP) will be served by DOH-10.

Per Price Act, or Republic Act No. 7581, as amended by R.A. No. 10623, the State shall ensure the availability of essential drugs as basic necessities at reasonable prices at all times without denying legitimate businesses a fair return on investments.
