A local creative business from Oroquieta City, Misamis Occidental unveiled its first collection of hand painted clothing on August 20, 2024 at SM City CDO Uptown, Cagayan de Oro City.
Oro Ink Art showcased its vibrant pieces during the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Misamis Occidental Provincial Day, one of the major events of DTI Region 10’s Kahimunan Regional Trade Fair 2024.
Established in 2017 by husband-and-wife team, Nathan and Venus Guantiñas, Oro Ink Art initially started as a tattoo studio. Believing that art should not be defined by one medium, the couple expanded their creative services to blend art with fashion.
The first collection called, “Anyag,” features 20 pieces: 14 from a personal collection of a client, three created by local designer Dave Delgado, and three men’s shirts.
The hand painted designs in each clothing are inspired by nature, folklore, and the rich cultural heritage of Misamis Occidental. The vibrant colors, bold strokes, and intricate patterns reflect Nathan’s dedication to preserving and reinventing cultural art forms.
Aside from the fashion show, the event also featured song performances by 5MERS Band of Misamis Occidental.
The fashion show and song performances were in line with the Kahimunan Regional Trade Fair 2024’s theme on “Culture and Creativity.” This year, the regional trade fair puts a spotlight on the Creative Industry, one of the sectors that is actively being supported by DTI.♦
