Department of Trade and Industry awarded this year’s most competitive cities, municipalities, and provinces in the country during the Creative Cities and Municipalities Congress (CCMC) 2024 at the Manila Hotel on August 23, 2024.

The competitiveness of the local government units (LGUs) were ranked based on their annual performances on five pillars—Economic Dynamism, Government Efficiency, Infrastructure, Resiliency, and Innovation—under the Cities and Municipalities Competitiveness Index (CMCI).

Cagayan de Oro City has been named as the sixth Overall Most Competitive Highly Urbanized City and seventh Most Improved Highly Urbanized City. The city additionally demonstrated strong performances in the competitiveness pillars. It ranked first in the Resiliency Pillar, sixth in Innovation Pillar, seventh in Infrastructure Pillar, seventh in Government Efficiency Pillar, and ninth in Economic Dynamism Pillar.

Meanwhile, the Province of Camiguin was awarded as the sixth Most Competitive Province.

Iligan City was recognized as the eighth Most Improved Highly Urbanized City while Ozamiz City and Tangub City ranked second and sixth, respectively, as the Most Improved Component Cities.

Aside from the awarding ceremony, the Philippine Creative Industries Month was also launched during the CCMC 2024.♦
