NABUNTURAN, Davao de Oro – The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI)–Davao de Oro, through its Negosyo Centers (NCs), is set to turn over livelihood kits to 300 beneficiaries provincewide on October 2 at the Provincial Capitol here.

Seventy micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) from Maco, Davao de Oro were assisted and profiled last August 20 as part of the Department of Trade and Industry’sPangkabuhayan sa Pagbangon at Ginhawa (PPG) program

This initiative falls under the Pangkabuhayan sa Pagbangon at Ginhawa (PPG) program, which aims to help calamities-affected micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) recover and restart their businesses.

The PPG program focuses on providing critical support to MSMEs, especially those hit hard by natural disasters such as the flooding experienced by the province last January. Its core objective is to help entrepreneurs rebuild their businesses by offering livelihood kits, entrepreneurial mindset training, and business continuity planning workshops. These interventions are designed to empower them to resume their operations, adapt to challenges, and sustain long-term business growth.

Across 10 of the 11 municipalities in Davao de Oro, a total of 600 sari-sari store owners were identified as beneficiaries after being severely impacted by the floods last January.

DTI-Davao de Oro OIC-Provincial Director Art A. Hermoso shared that in the identification of beneficiaries, the Local government units (LGUs) played a crucial role.

“We partnered with the LGUs in the selection process. They endeavored in selecting and endorsing these store owners to DTI,” the provincial trade chief said. “We are grateful for the support of our LGUs, especially in ensuring that those most affected by the disaster were prioritized.”

As the PPG program enters its final stages, each identified beneficiary will receive a livelihood kit valued at Php5,000, which includes grocery items to help them restart their businesses. The provincial turn-over ceremony on October 2, will benefit 300 MSMEs from the municipalities of Nabunturan, Montevista, Compostela, Mawab, and Maco.

Meanwhile, the remaining 300 beneficiaries from Maragusan, New Bataan, Monkayo, Mabini, and Pantukan will receive their livelihood kits at separate turn-over ceremonies in their respective municipalities, making sure that assistance reaches all corners of the province.

Hermoso noted that this initiative highlights DTI’s continued commitment to empowering local entrepreneurs, fostering resilience among MSMEs, and supporting economic recovery efforts in disaster-affected areas.♦
