Tuguegarao City, Cagayan — The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Region 2, chair of the Consumer Network (ConsumerNet) Region 2, led the 2nd Quarter Meeting at the Organic Conference Hall of the Department of Agriculture Regional Field Office 2 (DA RFO2) in San Gabriel, Tuguegarao City, Cagayan.

In his opening remarks, DTI R2 Consumer Protection Division Chief, Atty. Cyrus I. Restauro, expressed gratitude to all active ConsumerNet members for their dedication to consumer protection. Atty. Restauro emphasized the importance of ongoing collaboration among member agencies to implement impactful programs and activities aimed at safeguarding consumer interests.

During the meeting, ConsumerNet members reached several key agreements, including the scheduling of the Consumer Connect Program—a regular online initiative where agencies share their advocacies with the public. They also finalized guidelines for the use of the ConsumerNet Region 2 Facebook page and initiated the search for the “PalengK, K na K (Kalinisan, Kaayusan at Kagandahan)” program, an incentive initiative encouraging local government units (LGUs) to enhance and beautify their public markets. Additionally, improvements to the network’s system were discussed to ensure efficient delivery of services to consumers across Region 2.

The meeting also highlighted the joint monitoring activity conducted in Solano, Nueva Vizcaya, on April 19, 2024. The next joint monitoring activity is scheduled for October 2024, coinciding with Consumer Welfare Month.

Attendees included representatives from various agencies: DTI, RTWPB, DOST, DOH, PNP, DENR, EMB, DA, DICT, NFA, NMIS, DOT, LTFRB, and NBI. ♦
