DTI-2 staff volunteers do their share in the River and Estero Clean–up Drive marking the celebration of World Water Day on 22 March 2019.

March 22 marks World Water Day, an international annual observance for water recommended by the United Nations Conference on Environment and Development back in 1992. This year’s theme is Leaving No One Behind: Whoever you are, wherever you are, water is your human right.  This fits rightly with the UN’s Sustainable Development Goal No. 6 which is crystal water, safe water for all by 2030.

Upon this premise, the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) enjoined national government agencies, civic organizations and local government units to join its intiative to hold a regionwide river and estero clean-up drive.  The Department of Trade and Industry Region 02 fielded in ten of its staff to participate in the clean – up drive.  The team was assigned together with the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), Land Transportation Franchising  and Regulatory Board (LTFRB), Barangay Caritan, the Professional Regulatory Commission (PRC), Radio Station DWPE, and some units of the DENR to clean a portion of the estero in Alley A, Barangay Caritan, Tuguegarao City, Cagayan.
