The Consumer Protection Division of the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Region 2 spearheaded a dialogue with the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) Region 2 and the Philippine National Police (PNP) Region 2 on 24 January 2022 for a possible collaboration in enforcing consumer laws online.

The dialogue was in preparation for DTI R2’s pet project, entitled “Social Media Policing”, which has a two-fold purpose: to elevate consumer protection and uphold business ethics by monitoring compliance of online sellers with fair trade laws.
