NUEVA VIZCAYA, PHILIPPINES — The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Region 2 in partnership with FCF Minerals Corporation through their Social Development and Management Program, empowered 10 members of the Golden Malilibeg Livelihood Association, Inc. (GMLAI) by conducting a technical consultancy activity on how to improve their existing process on the production of ginger candies, 03 May 2024.

This activity is part of Project GOLD (Generating Opportunities for Livelihood Development). The project aims to create a self-sustaining economy to guarantee the community’s independence, particularly beyond the mine life.

DTI Regional Office 2 trainers taught the participants the skills needed to diversify their product offerings and elevate their production methods. Throughout their training, they were able to formulate three variations of ginger candy.

The trainers also emphasized the importance of sustained commitment alongside the excitement for the improved ginger candy. The DTI and FCF Minerals’ continued support for GMLAI through Project GOLD initiatives have been consistent throughout the year.

The members of GMLAI also received news that the FCF Minerals Corporation, through Brgy. Runruno in Quezon, will be funding the construction of a dedicated production area for the association. This facility will allow GMLAI to streamline their operations and potentially increase production capacity. ♦
