The Department of Trade and Industry Region 2 conducted an advocacy initiative for 13 violators of the accreditation requirement for service and repair shops from the recently conducted monitoring and enforcement last February 7-9, 2023, simultaneous to their scheduled hearings.
According to Division Chief Atty. Cyrus I. Restauro, “Hearings in DTI are not only meant to discuss the sides of parties and decide whoever is correct. We utilize hearings as a way of informing our respondents regarding their violations and the regulations they have to comply with in the hope that violators will not commit the same mistakes again.”
At the end of the session, the participants shared their sentiments and thoughts on the discussion as part of due process and even thanked DTI for providing the chance to learn certain laws relevant to their chosen business.
A total of P11,500 was collected as penalties from the violators.
The DTI Region 2 will continue to roll out advocacy initiatives and remind business establishments of their compliance with the fair-trade laws to protect the interests of the public by filing cases and imposing penalties on violators. *
