Pushing for more resilient, innovative, and competitive MSMEs, the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Region 2 successfully conducts its 2nd Regional Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises Summit on 11 July 2024.
In her opening speech, DTI Region 2 Regional Director Ma. Sofia G. Narag, CESO V addresses all governments, financial institutions, industry associations, as well as MSMEs themselves, calling them into action to enable an environment that cultivates MSME growth. Despite all challenges, she assured the MSMEs of DTI Region 2’s commitment to foster MSME growth.
Tuguegarao City Mayor, Hon. Maila Ting-Que, represented by Atty. Marjorie Poblete-Martin, and Cagayan Provincial Governor, Hon. Manuel N. Mamba, also provided warm messages to all participants.
The summit provided opportunities for MSMEs to learn from industry experts, networking with clients and partners alike, access to valuable resources as well as trends and technologies to help elevate their businesses. Partners from BPI and GCash showcased their services for MSMEs and urged them to take this opportunity for growth. The summit also provided a venue to launch Nutridense products for disaster relief packs.
Outstanding Region 2 MSMEs were also recognized in an MSME Awarding Ceremony with these Award Categories: 2024 Presidential Awards for Outstanding MSMEs and Presidential Recognition for Outstanding Development Partners, Best Shared Service Facility Cooperators, and Food Development Program Beneficiary Awardees.
RMSMED Council Co-Chairman Gary Chong of the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry closed the summit with a reminder that MSMEs are the backbone of our economy. As such, they must continuously adopt and embrace innovation, to not just survive but to thrive in an ever-changing landscape. According to him, innovation is not about something entirely new. It’s about finding better ways to do what we already do. It’s about embracing new technologies, streamlining processes, and be responsible business owners, and fostering a culture of creativity within their businesses.
