The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Region 2 as the Chair of the 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐮𝐦𝐞𝐫 𝐍𝐞𝐭𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐤 (𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐮𝐦𝐞𝐫𝐍𝐞𝐭) Region 2, conducted its 1st Quarter Meeting on 𝟐𝟑 𝐅𝐞𝐛𝐫𝐮𝐚𝐫𝐲 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟒 at the Conference Hall of the Department of Science and Technology Regional Office 2 (DOST-RO2), Carig Sur, Tuguegarao City, Cagayan.

DTI R2 Consumer Protection Division, Division Chief Atty. Cyrus I. Restauro, in his opening message, thanked the DOST-RO2 for hosting the said meeting as part of the latter’s commitment to contributing to ConsumerNet’s aspirations. He also discussed the meeting’s objectives, particularly revisiting the agreements made during the previous meeting and discussing updates, issues, and concerns for the operationalization of the ConsumerNet.

The ConsumerNet member agencies reached agreements on the plans and activities for CY 2024 that were presented during the meeting. In essence, the discussions focused on improving and strengthening the network’s operations, services, and partnerships among member agencies to ensure the widest information dissemination of its respective programs and activities to all consumers regionwide

Among those discussed were the conduct of a planning workshop, the continuation of the Consumer Connect Program, a joint monitoring activity to see the business establishments’ compliance with consumer and other related laws, and the newly proposed project, the Serbisyo Caravan, which will bring the member agencies’ services closer to the masses.

Engr. Mark Kenneth Sumbillo, Senior Science Research Specialist, delivered the closing message on behalf of Assistant Regional Director Sylvia Lacambra of DOST-RO2, wherein he congratulated all member agencies on the successful conduct of the activity. He stressed the importance of inter-agency cooperation that will be beneficial to all stakeholders and looked forward to the fruitful realization of the plans discussed during the meeting.

In attendance were representatives from the DTI, RTWPB Region 2, DOST – Region 2, DILG Rehiyon DOS, DOLE Region 2, Police Regional Office 2 , DENR Cagayan Valley, Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Region 02 , EMB Cagayan Valley Region, DA Region 2, Bureau of Internal Revenue – Cagayan Valley Region, PIA Region 2, DICT Region 02 – Cagayan Valley, PhilHealth, BSP , NFA , NMIS Cagayan Valley, DOT, MTWD , and NBI Cagayan Valley Regional Office. ♦
