The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Region 2, led by Regional Director Leah Pulido Ocampo, through the Consumer Protection Division (CPD) and in partnership with various industry associations, successfully conducted the 2024 Cagayan Valley Multi-Industry Summit on Product Standards last 13-15 March 2024 at 3K Hotel, Santiago City and Hotel Carmelita, Tuguegarao City, Cagayan, respectively, with the primary objective of advocating product standards to stakeholders in the region.

The activity coincided with the celebration of World Consumer Rights Day (WCRD) with the theme: Fair and Responsible Artificial Intelligence (AI) for consumers, which aimed to raise consumer awareness to make educated decisions about when and how to utilize generative AI, while also promoting responsible and ethical use of AI technologies.

The various industry associations facilitated the conduct of product demonstrations featuring selected products under mandatory certification to foster a deeper understanding of its applications and benefits.

The summit was attended by a total of 𝟭𝟴𝟲 participants, composed of owners and representatives of business establishments, members of the academe, media, DTI-recognized consumer and private organizations, LGU representatives, and concerned DTI staff.

The conduct of the Multi-Industry Summit underscores DTI’s commitment to equipping businesses and consumers with the knowledge and tools necessary to thrive in an ever-changing marketplace. By fostering dialogue, collaboration, and education, DTI aims to foster a culture of excellence and integrity across industries. ♦
