The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Region 2, Agricultural Training Institute – Regional Training Center 02 (ATI-RTC 02), Philippine Coconut Authority (PCA), and Local Government Unit (LGU) Gonzaga, supported the Coconut-based Learning Site for Agriculture (Coco-LSA) Launching Program and CFIDP Training Needs and Assessment Results Validation for FY 2024-2025 on 20 February 2024 at THL Integrated Farm, Brgy. Amunitan, Gonzaga, Cagayan.
The activity aimed to assess the result of the survey conducted with the coconut farmer beneficiaries last 7 December 2023, and to validate their priority commodities inclined to their actual needs.
The Committee on Agriculture, Sangguniang Bayan (SB) Oscar Idmilao who represented Gonzaga Municipal Mayor, Hon. Marilyn S. Pentecostes, extended her sincerest appreciation to the various coconut stakeholders, farmers, representatives from DTI R2, PCA, through the initiative of ATI-RTC Region 2. “The success of the said training lies in the active participation of internal and external stakeholders, and I am confident that there will be more things to be achieved when everyone works hand in hand in preparation for the upcoming programs and activities in the coconut industry,” Idmilao said.
Meanwhile, ATI-RTC 02 OIC-Center Director, Dr. Claris Marayag-Alaska, also highlighted the importance of value-adding for coconut in support of the different component programs of CFIDP and she also encouraged the coconut stakeholders and farmers to give importance to attending activities and programs of all partner agencies to be knowledgeable in the coconut industry.
Moreover, the key highlights of the said activity were the unveiling of the Learning Site for Agriculture (LSA) signage and the awarding of the LSA certificate to the LSA Cooperator of THL Integrated Farm, Nenita P. Ayuyang.
Engr. Fhrea E. Guzman of ATI-RTC 2 presented the Overview of the Training Needs Analysis (TNA) validation as well as the synthesis from the focus group discussion.
The DTI R2 commits to continue its support for “Masagana, Matatag, at Progresibong Industriya ng Niyog sa Rehiyon Dos”. ♦
