SANTIAGO CITY — Pointing toward building linkages, pooling business opportunities, and supporting government policies and programs to create an enabling and sustainable business environment for Region 2 MSMEs, the Department of Trade and Industry Region 2 successfully held on 13 July 2023 the first-ever Regional MSME Summit in Santiago City.

Santiago City Mayor Atty. Alyssa Sheena P. Tan welcomed the participants and appreciated DTI R2, led by Regional Director Leah Pulido Ocampo, in this trailblazing endeavor that will not only help the growth and sustainability of the business community in the region but also nationwide economic development.

DTI R2 Assistant Regional Director Winston T. Singun also emphasized the importance of this activity in the participants’ entrepreneurial journey that they shall embrace, especially in this fast-paced age where everything is going digital.

The inking of the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) between the Regional Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprise Development (RMSMED) Council also took place to institutionalize partnership and commitment to understanding and implementing the roles of each member.

Six forums were also held covering the DTI’s 7Ms Way of Uplifting MSMEs, namely, the Government Mindset Forum, Mastery and Mentoring Forum, Money Forum, Models and Machines Forum, Market Forum, and Entrepreneurial Mindset Forum.

DTI R2 also took this opportunity to launch two of its most-awaited programs, the e-Binhisipan Business Learning Website and the 17th Padday na Lima Regional Trade Fair, through audio-visual presentations lauded by the participants.

RMSMED Council Co-Chairman Gary Chong of the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry closed the summit with his insights, citing the benefits of aiding and strengthening the capacities of the MSMEs in the region. ♦
