As part of the National MSME Week celebration, the Small Business Corporation (SB Corp.), in collaboration with the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Region 2 Nueva Vizcaya Provincial Office, conducted the DTI-SB Corp Regional Roadshow on 17 July 2024 at Balai Gloria, Solano, Nueva Vizcaya.

Over 180 participants, including entrepreneurs and partners from the government and private sectors, joined the event.

SB Corporation, a government-owned and controlled corporation, serves as the financing arm of the DTI. The roadshow was part of their mission to bridge the financing needs of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs).

In his message, SB Corp President/CEO Robert Bastillos discussed how their loan programs can help entrepreneurs elevate their businesses from micro-enterprises to small establishments or from small to medium-sized businesses.

Provincial MSME Development Council Chairperson Dr. John Octavious S. Palina echoed this sentiment, expressing gratitude to the DTI and SB Corp for initiating such a valuable activity. “We all share the same belief in enterprise development, which will also help uplift the economic status of Nueva Vizcaya,” he added.

“Sama-sama po tayong umasenso para sa ating probinsya,” said DTI R2 NV Provincial Director Atty. Michael B. Paggabao, emphasizing how the event opened more opportunities to sustain Nueva Vizcaya’s impressive economic performance as one of the fastest-growing provinces in the country. He encouraged participants to invest in the manufacturing and value-adding sectors due to their significant potential.

Governor Jose V. Gambito, represented by Board Member Roland Carub, discussed the different financial programs and assistance provided by the Provincial Local Government Unit and how various agencies can collaborate to enhance these interventions.

In addition to an orientation on SB Corp’s current loan facilities, the event featured a ceremonial awarding of approved loan applications. With assistance from DTI’s technical staff and Junior Business Counsellors, MSMEs were helped with on-site online borrower registration, business consultation services, and mobile Business Name and BMBE registration.

The event also showcased DTI R2 NV’s Lako ‘ti Vizcayano Mini Bazaar, featuring six MSMEs, and the awarding of food safety kits to all participants under Project SAFE (Strengthening Advocacy on Food Safety Enhancement by providing personal protective equipment to micro and small enterprises).

Overall, the roadshow not only provided valuable financial opportunities but also fostered a spirit of collaboration and support among Nueva Vizcaya’s business community, contributing to the sustained economic growth of the province.
