CAUYAN, ISABELA – On May 24, 2023, the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Isabela Provincial Office inaugurated Project MOVE (Making Our Vulnerable Empowered) in a momentous event held in Cauayan City. The event was graced by esteemed officials including DTI Region 02 Regional Director Leah Pulido Ocampo and Isabela Director Ma. Sofia G. Narag showcased the commitment of the DTI to empower senior citizens and differently-abled persons. Also, present at the event were representatives from the Consumer Protection Division of DTI Isabela.

The highlight of the program was a comprehensive discussion led by TIDS (Trade and Industry Development Specialist) Mel Mari Angelo P. Laciste, who shed light on the rights and responsibilities bestowed upon senior citizens and differently-abled persons by existing laws. This informative session aimed to educate and empower the participants, ensuring they are well-informed about their entitlements.

During her inspirational address, Regional Director Leah Pulido Ocampo reiterated the DTI’s dedication to empowering this sector in every possible way. Director Ocampo emphasized the significance of supporting senior citizens and differently-abled persons to exercise their rights and privileges, thus ensuring their integration and relevance in society. She acknowledged their indispensable role in the progress of local communities and pledged continued assistance and empowerment.

The launch of Project MOVE encompassed various activities designed to benefit the target group. The Cauayan City Health Office conducted free medical check-ups for all participants, ensuring their health and well-being. Additionally, the Department of Agriculture and the Provincial Government of Isabela generously distributed vegetable seedlings and fruit-bearing trees, respectively, fostering sustainable agricultural practices and promoting self-sufficiency among the attendees.

This momentous occasion marked a significant milestone for Project MOVE, which has gained substantial momentum with the endorsement and support from various regional line agencies. As the campaign moves forward with its 5-Point Agenda, the project has garnered increased backing from these agencies, all committed to empowering and assisting the vulnerable sector.
