A BREW-tiful future awaits the Coffee Industry of Nueva Vizcaya as various stakeholders including farmers/producers, processors, traders, coffee shop owners, the academe, NGAs, NGOs, and LGUs joined the Strategic Planning activity of the DTI R2 Nueva Vizcaya Provincial Office, in collaboration with the Provincial Local Government Unit of Nueva Vizcaya on 23 February 2024.
This activity dubbed “Brewing Success through Harmony” aims to strengthen the promotion of the coffee industry of the province through the creation of different programs, activities, and projects (PAPs) by all the sectors/stakeholders involved.
Nueva Vizcaya, with its fertile lands and conducive climate, has the potential to become a powerhouse in the coffee industry. Through this planning activity, the unique characteristics, challenges, and resources present in the province were considered in drafting tailored strategies that foster sustainable growth, innovation, and the long-term prosperity of the coffee industry.
“I am confident that through our collaborative effort and innovative thinking, we will unfold various plans or a roadmap that positions Nueva Vizcaya’s coffee industry at the top, not only in the Philippine Map but also globally,” DTI R2 NV OIC Provincial Director Rowena Mayangat said in her message.
Board Member Roland Carub, Chair of the Committee on Trade, Commerce and Industry also committed to helping the council by spearheading the passage of an ordinance that will formally create a Technical Working Group (TWG) for the industry, as well as strengthen the coffee players and the provision of funds.
The said TWG will then take the lead in drafting and implementing the 5-year strategic roadmap of the province’s coffee industry.
During the workshop, the participants identified issues that hamper the growth and development of the industry, as well as the strategic actions to address them, enabling coffee players such as farmers, entrepreneurs, farmer-scientists, processors, etc., creation of municipal councils, and market linkage initiatives, among others.
Also with OIC PD Mayangat were BDD Chief Lenore Lee S. Lopez, STIDS Mark Ponce, STIDS-CARP Flomilyn Dela Cruz, TIDS Silvester Miguel, and JBC Bhritany Vidal.
