The Local Government Unit of Villaverde joined the Bamboo-tiful Nueva Vizcaya campaign as the LGU enacted Municipal Ordinance No. 2023-09 entitled “AN ORDINANCE INSTITUTIONALIZING THE IMPLEMENTATION OF BAMBOO DEVELOPMENT PROJECT OF VILLAVERDE AND PROVIDING FUNDS THEREOF” during the 55th regular session of the 11th Sangunian presided by Municipal Vice Mayor Engr. Marlon John R. Acosta on 23 October 2023.

The said ordinance was approved by Mayor Atty. Ronelie Valtoribio on 25 April 2024.

LGU Villaverde is aware of the benefits of the project in helping the town develop a competitive and sustainable economy while at the same time intensifying environmental protection and providing equal employment opportunities to raise the standard of living of the constituents. 

More interrelated activities under this ordinance will soon roll out after the organization of the LGU’s Bamboo Development Task Force such as the preparation of a Bamboo Development Plan, establishment of nurseries and plantations, formation of partnerships and linkages with Government Agencies, Academe, Non-Government Organizations, and other private sectors, and other undertakings that will support bamboo-related businesses and other stakeholders involved in the bamboo development value chain.

This ordinance is the ninth LGU-led initiative in Nueva Vizcaya to promote the Bamboo Industry Development Program being pushed by DTI Region 2 to engage the LGUs as key players in the implementation of the Cagayan Valley Bamboo Industry Development Program (CVBIDP).
