One Ayala, Makati City — Nueva Vizcaya’s Coffee industry continues to unfold exciting milestones as three coffee champs, specifically Bumolo’s Integrated Farm, Bugkalot Coffee Growers Cooperative, and Tiblac Farmers Agriculture Cooperative reaped outstanding Coffee Green Grading Results with zero to minimum defects at this year’s Philippine Coffee Quality Competition (PCQC).
The PCQC is an annual event that aims to identify the best quality coffees in the country and promote Philippine Specialty Coffee to domestic and global markets that can improve business opportunities for all Philippine coffee stakeholders.
This year’s PCQC was held last May 2024 for the submission and grading of the entries and the announcement of results was conducted on 7-9 June 2024 at One Ayala, Makati City.
The participants were Bumolo’s Integrated Farm owned by Ms. Juliet Morales with two entries for both the Robusta and Arabica categories; Bugkalot Coffee Growers Cooperative represented by Ms. Solita Constantino with one entry for Arabica; and Tiblac Farmers Agriculture Cooperative represented by Mr. Mario Tayaban with one entry for the Robusta category.
The green grading revealed that the Arabica coffee of the Bugkalot Coffee Growers Cooperative was classified under the premium grade with minimum secondary defects and the Arabica coffee of Bumolo’s Integrated Farm was graded as specialty which is the highest grade for the said category, and with zero defects.
Moreover, both Robusta entries from Bumolo’s Integrated Farm and Tiblac Farmers Agriculture Cooperative got zero defects.
Team DTI R2 Nueva Vizcaya is consistent in providing tailored interventions to develop and champion the province’s local industries such as coffee, in partnership with the Provincial Local Government Unit of Nueva Vizcaya and other agencies such as the Department of Agriculture, Department of Agrarian Reform, Department of Science and Technology, and the different LGUs.
This milestone at the PCQC not only highlights the exceptional quality of the province’s coffee beans but also underscores the dedication and expertise of all its stakeholders.
These results simply manifest the quality of coffee in Nueva Vizcaya, as well as its BREW-ty from BEANS to BLENDS! ♦
