The Philippine Coconut Authority Region 2 led by Regional Manager Dennis Andres convened all the Coconut Farmers and Industry Development Plan (CFIDP) implementing agencies, coconut farmer representatives, and LGUs on 9 May 2024 at the DTI Region 2 Negosyo Center Building, Carig Sur, Tuguegarao City, Cagayan to present their CY 2023 Accomplishments as well as the plans and budget for CY 2024 and issues and concerns experienced by the respective implementing agencies.

For the part of DTI Region 2, among the notable accomplishments presented were the following:

1.Conducted 16 Capacity Building session;

2.Developed 41 Coconut Food and Non-Food Prototypes;

3.Organized/Participated in 5 Information sessions/seminar;

4.Established 1 industry cluster, namely the Northwestern Cagayan Industry Cluster Team;

5.With the help of IAs and LGUs, formulated a short-term (3-year plan) Coconut Industry Action Plan.

RM Andres also paid a courtesy visit to DTI R2 Regional Director Leah Pulido Ocampo and initially discussed some updates and developments in the region’s coconut industry.

Among the implementing agencies present in the meeting were representatives from DTI, TESDA, CHED, PCIC, DA RF02, CDA, ATI-RTC, NDA, DA-HVCDP R2, Coconut farmer representatives, representatives of LGU Sanchez Mira, Sta. Teresita, Ballesteros, and Pamplona, all from Cagayan.

The RIATC meetings serve as a platform for all implementing agencies to exchange updates, address concerns, and identify bottlenecks in the CFIDP programs’ execution. DTI Region 2 provided the venue for this significant event.
